Riding

Yesterday, I got to ride Coco for the first time this year! I mean really ride, seriously. I had just been riding bareback and going on a couple trail rides in between snow storms. We worked on trail and horsemanship, I am going to give you the patterns, and combinations that we work on each time I ride.  The trail combo was a just 6 or 7 poles, 6ft apart, and divided in the middle. One side was raised and the other wasn't. Here is the Horsemanship pattern:

Snow day Quiz

Now that we have 2 feet of snow and I can barely walk in it where there is not a path, it's hard to ride if you don't have an indoor. We don't have an indoor so each February Coco goes to the trainers to get in shape and so I can ride, if only on the weekends. I had a lot of free time over the snowdays, we were off yesterday to, and I created  theses aqha quizzes. They were intended to be for my other blog , but not a lot of people have responded. Don't worry if you don't know all the answers, the Awards one is hard, and the other one is supposed to be a little easier. If you don't know the answers and you want to find out more go to qhinsight.blogspot.com, my other blog. I give you aqha how to videos.

Online Stable

Recently aqha put out a new website It's called Online Stable, and you can keep track of all your expenses hours with your horse and so on. At the end of the year you will be able to take your info and put it in for taxes, or whatever. So check it out, it's very simple to use, and comment if you have any questions. Just search online stable.com it is free to use and very straightforward, I will try to add screenshots to show what it looks like later.

Catching UP

So, to recap what has been going on in the my off season. First, my horses name is Coco. I will explain the other names as we go along.
Coco and I left Congress (the All American Quarter Horse Congress) in late October. While there we were on the tenth place team, for the youth team tournament, NYATT.  Now Coco has gone to the trainers, and I am hoping to go ride this weekend. My projected first show is the Spring Breakout in Virginia. For this blog I am planning on adding a shows tab where I have my placings, both for me and you, and the upcoming shows in case anybody is interested.
VERY excited to be getting back into riding!!!!! Can't wait for spring, that's all for today's post.

Welcome to the "Journey"

Hi, I'm CocoRL10 and this is my brand new blog titled The Quarter Horse Journey. You may have looked at my other blog, Quarter Horse Insight, which specializes in showing and explaining the rules of Aqha. This blog is going to be more personal, and I my goal is to describe my day to day horse events and what's happening in the show industry. My life can get to be a lot of routine in the winter, but I hope to keep it interesting, and up to date.
